Fighting Epilepsy
In this photo taken Dec. 8, 2010 in Chicago, Mariann Stanton, and her brother-in-law Tom Stanton sort through Danny Did Foundation sweat shirts in the living room of her home. Mariann's son four year-old Danny Stanton died from an epileptic seizure last year and since his death, his family has created the organization to raise awareness of a little-understood medical condition called Sudden Death In Epilepsy, or SUDEP. They have put up billboards, created more than 8,000 informational SUDEP brochures for doctor's offices, hospitals and families; held fund-raising events to boost awareness and research dollars, and created a foundation that has garnered more than 10,000 followers on Facebook.
